If that is the Atlantic Apartotel, where Guliolopez has put the note, the thatched cottage is now another apartment block called "Summerhill Apartments". There is another road now up the side of the Summerhill, which would lead to where the railway station would have been. Sadly the railway to Donegal is long since gone as well.

Thanks a million, although I really hadn't been sure it was Bundoran!
Cheeky request: If anyone has time for some extra homework on Google Maps, etc. - these Clarke photos are all "... possibly Bundoran..." (and you haven't developed double vision - there are two of each!) Then I can fix all these catalogue records - ooooh, the exciting life of a librarian! :)
P.S. Sorry to spoil the fun today by saying it might have been Bundoran, but I always share any insider information I might have on a photo, however spoilsporty that is!

The railway station shots are at Greenore, where people are boarding a train for Bundoran via Dundalk. We have seen Greenore before:

The Bundoran besom limerick
In Bundoran a lady called Carol*
Is bewitched by besoms in a barrel.
She knows a va-voom trick
To do on a broomstick
Whilst wearing her witch's apparel.
* - name changed to protect her real identity. Any similarities to persons alive or deceased is purely coincidental.
I'd bet those nice tresses are a flaming red, too. The hats are picturesque.

Tresses, besoms and dogbutt.
It sounds like a law firm.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley Niall, are you saying it's at Greenore Station because it says so on top of the train (along with Bundoran via Dundalk) or from some other evidence?

OSI seems to be busted. I'll stick up the historic link some other time, unless Niall beats me to it.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/govert1970 I think "barrel of besoms" sounds more alliterative.
