Far be it from us at Library Towers to let people rest on their laurels, and as our original fiendish
Mwahaha (evil laughter) was finally solved yesterday after 10 months, I had hoped to challenge you today.
All we had as a description was "Ruin tower and house adjoining other walls, people". Had hoped it'd prove a tad challenging, but 'twas not to be. Thanks very much to
blackpoolbeach for identifying these ruins as
Carrigogunnell (also Carrigogunnel) Castle!
Either way, also like this image for the spooky way that people seem to loom out of the background when you peer into all corners of it really carefully...

Near the giant's causeway. It's not it though - I compared it to a few other images.

The one day in I did not get a chance to look at the NLI stream and what comes up? The place where I played as a boy and that lives in my dreams comes up and I miss it and the man who knows Blackpool beach gets the prize;-(((((. I feel sick, I resign, I give up. Hope you have something interesting on Monday Carol.

Carrigogunnell was part of the outer defences for Limerick with a dramatic view of the Shannon. Around the time of the sieges of Limerick it too was. Esieged and the conquerors blew it up so that it could no longer be used. That explains the dilapidated condition.
maorlando - God keeps me as I lean on Him!!

I get up early like Dad and go on long walks into the country.I walk around the graveyard in the old abbey at Mungret where my mother's relations are buried and I go up the boreen to the Norman castle at Carrigogunnell where Dad brought me twice. I climb to the top and Ireland is spread out before me, the Shannon shining its way to the Atlantic. Frank McCourt
