I urge you all to zoom in on this one for the sheer discomfort on the faces of some of the "ladies". Think we've finally got a photo of the H.M.S. Pinafore, after some of our earlier Gilbert & Sullivan guesses. Oh, and this is a group of boys at Rockwell College, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

The boys in drag aren't too happy. The priest on the left seems to like it though. Not in the centre of Cashel. It's out the road somewhere, a bit rural. Can't remember since the new motorway was opened.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/eyelightfilms "Out the road" - I love that! Third "lady" from the left in the front row is giving his best Jazz Hands smile.

Talking about Gilbert & Sullivan.... Gilbert O'Sullivan was born Raymond Edward O'Sullivan on 1st December 1946 in Waterford in Ireland. He is still singing. www.gilbertosullivan.net

The rugs at the front are interesting. The one on the right appears to have a Turkmen (Central Asia) design. The one on the left is more difficult to see but I'd guess that it's Persian. Both look to have some age which means they might have been woven in the late19th century. Oriental rugs of that period are quite rare in Ireland. I wonder how these examples ended up in Rockwell in the 1930s. It they're still in existence, they'd be quite interesting.

Niall's link to the OSI brought it back to me, the location is outside the village of New Inn a few miles south of the town of Cashel and on the Cashel side. They won the Munster Schools Senior Cup this year beating St Munchins in the final so it was only that generation that were wusses!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] Well, there has been some discussion previously as to whether A.H. Poole photographers brought their own rugs for outdoor shots, and that rugs in Poole photos weren't always belonging to the houses/schools in question. (Of course, I can't for the life of me remember on which photo that discussion took place!)

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]] Absolutely worthwhile (for lots of other reasons too, hopefully!). And as [http://www.flickr.com/photos/blackpoolbeach] says here's one of the "rug" ones, but lots of the outdoor Poole photos in our Group Set have rugs...
