Taoiseach W.T. Cosgrave (holding furled umbrella) with other dignitaries visiting the recently opened sugar beet processing factory at Strawhall, Co. Carlow.

Probably little hope of identifying the two workers, as they may well have been from Holland or Belgium, though who knows given the reach of the interweb! However, if any of you can help with identifying the "suits", we'd be very pleased.

The one holding the umbrella is Cosgrave. I hope that helps (i know it doesn't but I am feeling mischievousness).

http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] They are indeed! They may have been from Belgium or Holland. This factory (and large scale sugar beet processing in Ireland) was set up with help from a Belgian firm, Lippens.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland I don't have a subscription to read old newspapers, but it is possible that if someone who does ahem, ahem were to look in the Indo of 15/10/1926 they would find an article headed: SUGAR FROM BEET INTEREST OF LABOUR IN CARLOW FACTORY INSPECTION TOUR which might shed some light.
