Mount Isa Mines operations were officially opened on the 15th June 1931. The first load of ore was raised in No. 1 Ore Shaft on the 6th may 1931, 200 tons. This was then fed through the processing plant to test the process ready for production. June 1931 production figures 880 tons of lead bullion railed to Townsville valued at £10,189 and \70,754ozs of silver valued at £4,038. This images appears be shortly after production commenced. The discolouration on the top of the stack indicates that production had started.
