Yesterday we had a castle that wasn't a castle but there is no doubting that today we have a real live dining room. The subject is the Dining Room in Carton House near Maynooth in County Kildare. Festooned with portraits of ladies and gentlemen when dining all eyes would be on the diner!

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/lizinitaly] There is a Lawrence reverse-ish view. I think it is a different day/visit because of the carpets and table settings - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000325980 "The FitzGeralds of Carton House – a deeply dysfunctional family" ... www.irishtimes.com/culture/books/the-fitzgeralds-of-carto... Edit: No, here is the neighbouring reverse view, with luncheon for one, and the clock at noon again - L_IMP_2284 - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000328506

So where did they keep the big dining table when it wasn’t in use? See www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2019/royal-and-noble/an-i...

There is a long sequence of Carton house Imps. Immediately before it, there is L_IMP_2277 The folks pictured may be the Colthurst family, linked in the 1911 census. If the Gentleman pictured is George St. John, 6th baronet, the pic would be around 1890-1900? After the sequence is a pic of Maynooth campus after the 1891 church.
