Mrs. Fielding of O'Connell, presumably of Waterford City commissioned this lovely group photo of four ladies who were very focused on something to the right of the photographer! Seemingly a mother and three sisters the difference in hairstyles was once used to denote single ladies from married. Could this be the case here?

Photographer: A. H. Poole

If you can put a loupe over the newspaper, it could give you some clues. The pair on the left look alike. The only one looking directly at the camera is the young girl. I would bet the photographer directed each of to look a certain way.

The catalogue says: Group with Miss Joe sitting : commissioned by Mrs. Fielding, O'Connell Street. In the 1901 census, here are the Fieldings. No obvious Joe, but could be mother Ellen, and daughters Julia and Mary standing?

The lengthy report of Ellen Fielding's funeral in the Waterford Star on Saturday 26 August 1905 described the cortege as "one of the largest and most representative that has left Waterford for many years, the long line of vehicles seeming interminable." Among the many wreaths was one "from her sorrowing daughters - Mary Jo' and Julia". Edit: there isn't a comma between "Mary" and "Jo'", but I think there should be.
