Our catalogue tells us that that this is unidentified, but I think they missed a trick! We see on the face of the photograph that this is in fact Knockmaroon in the County of Dublin. I wonder what that that tower is doing in the background, surely it would feel more at home in Tuscany?

Photographer: Robert French

Mr French / Lawrence made full use of his trusty tripod that day - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000324203 (Royal plate) catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000335160 (Cabinet plate) The workmen in bowlers suggests 1890-ish to me.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland I think there have been others; can't remember where ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiteadept/'s linked site implies the tower and clock was completed in 1885, so there won't be a stereo pair to complete the plate sizes.

Nearby in the catalogue is L_IMP_2293 which is after October 1899, when the Phoenix Park/North Quays tram was electrified. Also L_IMP_2298 showing the Hill of Howth tram, opened 1900.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland I think the 1899 date is a reasonable guess, but we have seen out-of-sequence stuff before, so just a good guess.
