A lovely image from the Poole Collection for this morning that looks like it could have come from many of the other collections more that theirs? A fine ivy covered house with a soft top car parked outside possibly going up for sale? Where and when and who was Mrs. Bower?

Mind you, the photo doesn't seem to match the map. No, this isn't Tourin House.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] Reg number is more likely to be CI which would have been Queens County then now Co Laois. Will come back later with make of car.

The nearest census record is Graigueavine, farmers and JP - www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Kilkenny/Tubbri... They look like the inhabitants of a big house, but it's far enough up the road that I wouldn't have thought it was Rathmore.

Not a great match between this one catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000593792 and the census record for Graigueavine, but it is 13 years later, and if we allow for comings and goings and grandchildren, I don't think there's a better match in the census. Most of the other Bowers would have had to come into an inheritance to fetch up here.

Seems they're Brickendens in 1911, but the house belongs to Bowers - Maunsell, maybe (Is that a name)? www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002627316/ (House 5) Edit: Alianore & Alionora Brickenden, mother and daughter, the younger of whom is a lady gardener. I wonder are they staff or renting?

Maunsell Bryan Bowers of Graigueavine is 4 in 1911, so unless it's a tax dodge of some sort, it's presumably Maunsell Dobbyn Bowers of the Mall, Waterford who owns the house.

According to the 6", it was previously Glebe House. There's no RC chapel marked, so I guess it belonged to the COI.

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]] Eaton Maunsell Bowers is also of the Mall, Waterford, aged 9 at the time of the census, so that would seem to confirm that it's this crowd: www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Waterford/Water....
