Gibson Battle & Co. Limited, merchant engineering company established in 1883. Engineers and manufacturers of production machinery including internal combustion and steam engines, tractors, dragline and earthmoving machinery, conveyors, agricultural industry machinery and transport. In 1961 the company was taken over by Tutt Bryant Limited. The Engineered Products Group currently has four major Divisions supplying Australian industry with pumps, hydraulic systems, mechanical power transmission products and engines.

Ha! This is fun - found via a Trove search . . . The building is still there at the south west corner of Crown and Liverpool Streets, with an extra floor or two on top - hence it is not instantly recognizable.
