Harry was the son of Thomas Escreet and Mary Kitchen in Hutton Cranswick. He was born in 1895. He was one of 13 children. The family lived at Arram near Leconfield.
In 1911 Harry was listed as a wagoner working for George Lascelles, a farmer at Aike.
Harry enlisted with the Royal Engineers in January 1915 and embarked for France in August 1915. He was discharged from the army in 1917. He was awarded the 15 Star, the Victory and British medals as well as the Silver War badge.
Harry died in 1963 in Buckrose district.
