Ernest Edwin Williamson (known as Edwin) was born in 1898 in Beverley the son of Robert Henry Williamson, born in Walkington and Agnes (nee Wilson) born in Bishop Burton. In 1911 the family were living at 3 Railway Terrace.
Edwin was a bugler in the Beverley Church Lads Brigade. He joined the 5th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment at Beverley in 1914 at the outbreak of war, and was deployed to France in February 1915. The Battalion was involved in the 2nd Battle of Ypres and Edwin died on 5 July 1915 from a snipers bullet. He was the first member of the Church Lads Brigade to be killed
Edwin was buried at Farm Cemetery, Heuvelland, Belgium.
