Percival Charles was born in 1892 in Beverley, the seventh of 8 children born to wheelwright William Wilson of Keldgate and his wife Ann Eleanor (nee Pinder).
He enlisted in the East Yorkshire Regiment in November 1914 and served in the 6th Battalion which became the Pioneer Battalion the 11th (Northern) Division. He first saw action in the Balkans in September 1915. In June 1916 the Division was ordered to France to reinforce the Third Army. Percival was killed in action on 4 August 1917
He is buried in Brandhoek New Military Cemetery.
