The Stereo Pairs Collection and a beach scene for today’s post with lots of donkeys, carts, and layabouts on view. In light of the scurrilous comment yesterday suggesting that Mr. Stereo Pairs included his version of the Ford Consul in his shots, can you tell which one is which?
Thank you all for the advice on removing the earworm, but after four substitutes, I am now in Heartbreak Hotel with the King!

Good morning all Flickroonies, Could I ask a favour please? A friend recently came by an album of images from a late uncle in the US and among the images was this below. A relative came across the pond in 1955 and took a number of family photos. He was just wondering if it was possible to find out anything about this. It was almost certainly Donegal and perhaps in the Moville area. Any help would be much appreciated. https://www.flickr.com/photos/swordscookie/49944620946/in/dateposted/

On closer look those officers hats are neither RIC custodial helmets or pillbox caps. Could be these guys are Clare Militia and/or part of Vandeleurs mob from Kilrush. A similar helmet and uniform was worn by the Munster Fusiliers. Someone else may know more about these uniforms? i.pinimg.com/564x/75/98/c2/7598c246d147d93f8604d320c79675...

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] An RIC officer has appeared before, particularly in street scenes. An escort? They always had that militaristic look about them, and have been described as an Irish version of the Gendarme. Funny how all arms of the law, no matter the country, have adopted that dark menacing look. The Gestapo looked the sharpest, but they had the benefit of being supplied by Hugo Boss.

The pretty little wall that they are sitting on is part of the 'strand line' wall, built in the mid 1800s as part of a famine relief scheme. www.clarecoco.ie/services/planning/publications/towards-a... How often have we seen a darker past hidden behind an innocuous scene?

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] That's grim stuff all right. To quote a portion of the article, with relevance to modern events: "In May the people were warned at Mass that there was fever in the village. Later notices appeared in the Limerick Newspapers announcing that Kilkee was free of fever and sickness. But in spite of efforts to put on a brave face to assure the citizens of Limerick that Kilkee was flourishing the Limerick Chronicle reported on the 20th July that there were 100 lodges vacant in the resort." Shades are of things to come.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] I had come across that article in ClareLibrary a while ago and did not get a chance to post much yesterday. As you say that paragraph with a little edit here and there could have been written this year.
