A very romantic tutu as by the 1930s tutus were usually shorter in length. The traditional tutu was made of 6 layers of tulle reaching the mid calf. By the 1930s dancers performed to different styles of music and this led to a change in the ballet costumes. The classic ballgown was a popular choice for female dancers.
