In February 1944, visitors flocked to the Cooma Rodeo to see Australia's finest rough riders take on the local mountain brumbies. The 'star turn' that year was "Thunderbolt" a wild Brumby from the hills of Kosciusko. Alec Iverson photographed this enthusiastic group sitting on the railings at the height of the action.

Extraordinary! My perspective on this is ex-Queanbeyan, as a kid in the 1950s living for some time on the railway line to Cooma (at the very end of Young St), and visiting Cooma often in my childhood. This looks like it was yesterday. Thank you for posting. :-)
