Murray's Fort on the walls of Derry City in a very interesting photograph from the wonderful Lawrence Photographic Collection. The detail in this is terrific, from the cannon to the battlements, the column in the distance and the building on the far skyline make this a feast for the eyes. Yesterday we were looking down on Passage in Waterford and today we are very much looking up to Derry and it's walls!
Thanks to O Mac
for helping us to shave the earliest possible date from 1865 to 1894 (First Derry National School opened in 1894).
