Ernest Henry emigrated to Australia in 1857. After working the Riverina and the Darling Downs he took up Baroondah Station near Roma, and later Mt. McConnell Station. He explored the areas around Cloncurry and the Flinders Ranges and was the discoverer, and principle prospector, of the Cloncurry mineral district of north west Queensland.
Ernest Henry's fine full beard reflects his status as an explorer and pioneer.
