Frank C. Furniss was born in 1881 in Perry County, Ohio. He graduated from the dental college at The Ohio State University in 1905. Dr. Furniss had various interests. He was an amateur artist, an expert on the constellations and he was “some horseshoe tosser.” He was the editor of The Community News when it was first published in 1922 in the basement of the First Community Church. It later became the Tri-Village News and still later the Upper Arlington News. He married Josephine Rochester, a resident of Logan, Ohio, and they had two children: Henrietta (born 1911) and Emily Frances (born 1910). They lived at 1800 North Devon Road in Upper Arlington.
