The weapon shown is a M.1861,10-Pounder Parrott Rifle. Manufactured at the West Point Foundry, the cast iron barrel was reinforced at the breech by a wrought iron tube. At a 5 degree elevation, a 1 lb. powder charge would throw a 10 lb. projectile 1,830 yards.
