Description: Various politicians and their families accompanied the Queensland Home Secretary, John Appel on a visit to Mapoon, October 1913. The other guests in the party according to the Mapoon Mission visitors book were: J. W. Bleakley (Chief Protector of Aboriginals); James Allan, MLA and his wife; John A. Crockett; J. W. Davidson and his wife Louisa; William, Irene and Louise Gall; W. M. Lee-Bryce; Mrs J. May; J. Mulcahy; Yves and Jean Tolmie and Loisa David.

The photograph was taken at the edge of Port Musgrave with the mission compound building behind. J. G. Appel is the man in a cloth cap standing to the right of the timber walkway.
