It is interesting that this photo is earlier than the 1894 Roberts painting, probably about 1887 / 88 (?) like many of Henry King's photos. "Lewis's Refreshment Rooms" had not yet been painted on the roof; the ugly black sign in the middle of the painting (and the Phillips photo c.1895) is not yet there; the building at right (now the Scout Hall) looks semi-derelict etc etc. For quick reference - https://www.flickr.com/photos/repolco/8643198351/
