A rather racy postcard from the early twentieth century (TWAM ref. 5625).
The postcard is addressed to Mr G. Sowerby, 24 Simpson St, Felling-on-Tyne and postmarked 11 October 1912. The message on the back is transcribed below.
“Dear George,
Many thanks for letter, you will think I am a very long time in writing to you. How is George I sent him a card about a fortnight since & he has never answered it. You wouldn’t do that I am sure. Write soon and let me know how all the bhoys are getting on

This set celebrates the many postcards in our collections. The people, places and events they show can give us an insight into the past, documenting the landscape, the fashions, the way we lived. Some postcards are unused but others tell us something about the people who bought them, through the messages they wrote. They can give us a fascinating glimpse into people’s lives.

Very good artistic portrait. Could it be the beginnings of the Green Party? 😊
