I think we have been to Huband Bridge before, I remember a conversation about a bolt on toilet! We have selected this transport related photograph (canal!) to celebrate
International Women's Day, it would make it a great day if we could identify the two women (and the two men) sitting on the lock gate.

Streetview (-ish) - goo.gl/maps/YKnT8RkQWB22 Inexplicable coincidence - the lad on the left is holding a 'BEAT CLUB' LP vinyl record, and the lock-gate arm they are sitting on now has the graffiti "YUNG KESMO ON A BEAT", which is some sort of musical reference. Is this a musical corner of Dublin? It is a beautiful canal bridge.
National Library of Ireland on The Commons
https://www.flickr.com/photos/beachcomberaustralia That is a coincidence.

The lovely Elinor went back in 1966 - she must have been fond of the bridge and who would blame her? See comments etc. ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland/6337098348

CASSIDY PHOTOGRAPHY
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat-Club These young people will be in their early to mid 80s, today. Maybe run an ad in the newspaper and they might recognise themselves.

The 3 girls, see other shots, are wearing a uniform and same shoe style. Maybe from a local record shop, with the lad being a customer. Male Manager (cough) catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000047285

Oh dear! "1964" date might just be wrong - the Beat Club LP has a subtitle (see megazoom) "The First Impression", which The Great God of Google says is 1968 - www.worldofbooks.com/en-au/vinyls/the-first-impression/be... The LP front cover matches in this similar photo - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000047288 Ed. This site says 1967 - www.discogs.com/The-First-Impression-Beat-Club/release/19...
Niall McAuley
I think the album title is Beat Club - The First Impression which was not released until 1967, and can be bought for a fiver.
Niall McAuley
WIL 6[5] shows the front of the album and confused me until I realized he's holding it upside down in that shot. Definitely Beat Club - The First Impression, 1967
Niall McAuley
I can't find any trace of the band The First Impression other than a few LPs for sale on eBay etc.
Niall McAuley
My theory is this is Dad, his daughters and son. Son has just bought a second-hand LP. If you look in the background of the Health and Safety Violation that is WIL 6[1], you can see Dad in the same spot while the daughters eat ice-creams.

The boy really reminds me of our gorgeous Pudding Bowl haircut boy from 1964! https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland/9662924724/ Could Beat Club boy be him a few years later? Although even 1967 (as per https://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley ) isn't long enough, unless he had a hell of a growth spurt...
BeachcomberAustralia
[https://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley] First Impression is the name of the album, a compilation of various artists who performed live(?) on the Beat Club show, see the lists on my links above. There is even a link there to this one minute YouTube clip of the Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper's' live - youtu.be/m9N7FrTdxWA
Niall McAuley
[https://www.flickr.com/photos/beachcomberaustralia] No, if you read the back cover, the band is The First Impression from London, and Beat Club is the name of this album of covers of hits of the year.
Niall McAuley
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] The LP came out in 1967, but this is a somewhat worn 2nd hand copy, we are certainly after 1967.
Niall McAuley
In fact WIL 60[6] is dated 1969 and Dad is there in the corner.
Carol Maddock
https://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley So maybe this is Pudding Bowl haircut boy all grown up? (Not mad about calling him that, but unfortunately we never identified him!)
Niall McAuley
If this is Pudding Head, could the 1964 girl at the fountain in WIL 11[10] be one of the girls today?

Evening Mary will have a job to summarise everything!

https://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley My wonderings exactly, though a bit difficult to tell with the rear view. I'm also wondering if the girl in the middle above is the same girl who's on the right in this feeding the goat photo taken at the next lock up from Huband Bridge – Baggot Street Bridge, also 1964? https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland/6927997469/ (Somebody stop me! I'm getting over-excited with all these wonderings...)
National Library of Ireland on The Commons
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] You have me wondering now if you are on to something! Where is https://www.flickr.com/photos/scorbet when you need her? She is very good at matching faces.
Carol Maddock
https://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland https://www.flickr.com/photos/scorbet/ Honestly, people going absent without leave, or a letter from their Mammy! Discipline has gotten very lax around this place...
Niall McAuley
[https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]] If we are going to get excited, I will note that Elinor had a brother Murrogh O'Brien, born in 1919, so 50 in 1969. Murrough had daughters Sylvia, Iseult and Charlotte and sons Colm and Stephen. Elinor took up botany aged 70, encouraged by niece Sylvia Reynolds. Here is a pic of Sylvia in 2013, she could be the girl on our left in today's pic?

Beat Club was a German tv show. Wikipedia says they featured Black Sabbath and David Bowie... I'm doubting these are Black Sabbath fans.

web.archive.org/web/20070930161819/http://www.tv.com/beat... every act on Beat Club
Niall McAuley
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] It isn't that beat club, it is an album called Beat Club with covers of 60s hits by a London band called The First Impression.
Carol Maddock
https://www.flickr.com/photos/gnmcauley I met Sylvia once! If only we'd had all this wondering before then...
