To end the week with a wee bit of colour we have a most charming photograph of a time long gone. The activity captured here was once ubiquitous - but now less common. The whole process of bringing home the turf was a full family occupation. And, in this case, even Neddy the Donkey is willingly involved

Congratulation for your beautiful Album.

The narrow body of water, the background and the subjects immediately made me think Kerry, and more specifically Valentia Island. I think if you look at the triangular shaped field in the back ground on the left and the line of trees from the shore, it matches up with the view from this link looking across a boggy field from Carhan Lower, Co. Kerry on the road to Portmagee looking over at Valentia Island. goo.gl/maps/J1cq43KVBtP2

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeegee] Good match i'd say! Neddy and The Milky Bar Kid had a close-up - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000193943

I'm sure someone down there could identify the family.

I agree https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeegee and https://www.flickr.com/photos/beachcomberaustralia. The hills and the slopes match exactly in the background of the StreetView. To the extent that I've mapped it to the same spot. Unless corrected, I think it's fairly firm. Now all we need is local knowledge of the family....
