An almost deserted market place in Beverley in the early 1880s. Those familiar with this East Yorkshire town will see how strikingly similar this scene is to the present-day layout of the street.

Even 'The Green Dragon' hotel, indicated by the sign on the left, still retains its name to this day, although it now operates primarily as a public house.
