Aerial view looking towards the Town Moor, Newcastle upon Tyne from West Jesmond, June 1978 (TWAM ref. DT.TUR/4/CN11182W).

Tyne & Wear Archives presents a series of colour aerial photographs of Newcastle upon Tyne. These images were captured by the Newcastle-based photographic firm Turners Ltd during the mid to late 1970s.

At first glance, some of these images give the impression that the Newcastle landscape hasn't changed much in 40 years. Look more closely, though, and some of the differences between then and now will reveal themselves - see how many you can spot.

Do you know what all the cars are parked up for. There doesn't seem to be any activity there or nearby?

Hi https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected] the photo was taken in June, the month when the Hoppings usually takes place so that would be my bet. If anyone has another suggestion, though, please do get in touch.

Give it's June I'd agree it was the Hoppings but hard to spot any actual fairground rides in action. Perhaps they were in "setting up" mode?
