These teachers appear to have been given more apples than they know what to do with. Actually no, this school wasn’t full of teacher’s pets; the fruits in the baskets are in fact oranges (hard to tell in black & white) and were ceremonially handed out to the children of Spencer Street School, who can be observed waiting patiently in the background (circa 1910).
