Research Help!

Where: Donegal, Ireland

Try to find the spot where the photographer was standing.

When: Unknown

Try to find the date or year when this image was made.
Two things we thought might be fun to find out here: The name of the road and the name of the man.

derangedlemur was able to furnish the first (Main Street in Bundoran). And while we did learn about the Mc Vittys merchants in the background, and mcginley2012 and O Mac offered some possibilities, naming the behatted foreground subject was always possibly going to be a cheeky ask. Happy Friday!!

McVitty merchants are present in Bundoran and Clones in 1901. Of the two, we've seen more of Bundoran so far.

He seems to be W. McVitty and Co, so Bundoran seems most likely. It doesn't look like Beechwood Avenue, which is the alternative commercial W. McVitty.

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/72163146@N08] If it is Canon Francis McKenna then the photo was taken before 6th Dec 1903. ". Death of Canon McKenna of Bundozan.—A well-known figure has disappeared in the person of the Very Rev. Canon McKenna, P.P. of Bundoran, who died suddenly on Sunday evening. Four years ago he was stricken with an attack of paralysis, from which he quickly rallied, but since then his health had been more or less precarious. On Sunday he discharged his sacred duties, and appeared if anything in better health than, usual. He had just retired to rest for the night when he felt a recurrence of his malady. He called his senior curate (Father Patrick McKenna), who anointed him, after which he passed peacefully, away. Deceased was in the 66th year of his age and a the 40th his priesthood." The Tablet

https://www.flickr.com/photos/23885771@N03 I checked the national archives for McVitty - it didn't strike me as a common name, and this one seemed to be a merchant of some sort, which is also not a particularly common profession. The census and google maps did the rest for me. (I'm assuming you're not referring to my last two posts, which were jokes).
