Is this one of the two Nitrate plans built in Muscle Shoals as part of the Muscle Shoals Project authorized under the National Defense Act of 1916 and later rolled into the TVA?

garagesoap: Glad you like this photo. It's cataloged in the MARC format, which contains the data elements in the Dublin Core, as well as more. To see the MARC format catalog record, go to the persistent URL at hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/fsac.1a55007, then go to the bottom of the screen and click on "View the MARC Record for this item."

This illustrates the beginning of 'conventional' chemical agricultural practices. Many of our non-organic based fertilizers were born from the spoils of war. Non- organic simply means that the fertilizer did not originate from a plant or animal.

This is unbelievable. The way Palmer uses light to show us every single detail of the scene in perfect clarity, though still maintaining an overall dark, industrial look makes my jaw drop.
