Description: 'This poster, drawn by Monte Scott, the Worker's cartoonist, was widely circulated in the Barcoo Electorate. T.J. Ryan was the first member elected who had been formally endorsed by the Australian Labour Federation and New Labour.' The poster features a prisoner sitting in his cell with head in his hands. In the background, through a "hole in the wall', is an image of happier times. At the base is text on the history of the Shearers and Labour Unions strikes in western Queensland, which resulted in the imprisonment at St. Helena Island of some of the union leaders.
