Description: Racecourse Central Mill was devastated, as was most of Mackay, after the 1918 cyclone. The mill started operating in 1889 and after being rebuilt, is still operating and its output is regarded as the best quality refined sugar in Australia. It produces about 400,000 tonnes of refined white sugar annually sold under the CSR label.
