A photograph of George, Thomas, and James Baldwin. George Baldwin, the husband of Novaline James Baldwin, was born on November 28, 1836, in Red Lyon Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He worked on steamboats in New Orleans, Memphis, and St. Louis as a young man. He and Novaline married on March 3, 1864, in Algiers, Louisiana. He operated the St. Louis Kitchener in the 1870s and then several plantations in the 1880s. He and Novaline had five children; Rosa Lee, Irvin Sanford, Sarah Letitia "Sadie", Novaline George, and Ida Belle. He died on November 15, 1885.
